About Bordeaux
Bordeaux is a port city in the
south-west of France, with 925,253 inhabitants
in the metropolitan area at the 1999 census. It
is the capital of the Aquitaine région,
as well as the préfecture (administrative
capital) of the Gironde département. Its
inhabitants are called Bordelais.
The city is built on an arc of the river Garonne,
and is thus divided into two parts: the right
bank to the East and left bank in the West. Historically,
the left bank is the most developed of the two.
Unlike many cities situated on rivers, Bordeaux
has only two road bridges that cross the Garonne,
the old Pont-de-Pierre and a modern bridge.

About Bordeaux - Healthcare
There are two main types of providers
available to expatriates - the mutuelles and the
commercial insurers. There are differences that
go beyond the simple fact that one is non-profit
making. But because mutuelles are non-profit making
does not mean that premiums are necessarily lower.
